As a university student majoring in Information Technologies, Martin Katsarov decided to augment his theoretical knowledge with real-world practical skills. The end goal – turning into a full-fledged software engineer and landing his first job quickly with a leading company that truly excites him. Today, he works as a software developer in GVC Services.
After graduating from the Technical University in Sofia with a major in Mechanical Engineering, Iliyan Gogov decided to pursue a different career path – diving into the business world and sales. Realizing his work was no longer a positive and challenging experience and driven by his passion for technology, Iliyan decided to make a change. He applied to Telerik Academy Alpha to become a sought-after software developer.
Alexander Georgiev is a passionate gamer who used to work in the gaming industry, coaching others and commenting on tournaments. At the age of 23 and with no previous programming experience, Alexander joined Telerik Academy Alpha in order to pursue a new career - this time in IT. Just a month after successfully completing the program, he joined Experian as a Junior Software Developer.
Employees are the backbone of IT companies and their most important asset. Finding the right people to join is crucial to the organizations’ success but may be a daunting task, especially when you have a relatively small talent pool available and an ever-expanding demand for software engineers.

In the end of 2016, Telerik Academy – one of the leading tech-ed organizations in Bulgaria – was spun off from Progress as an independent organization led by the four founders – Svetozar Georgiev, Boyko Iaramov, Vassil Terziev and Hristo Kosev. In an interview for “Dnevnik” they talk about their plans for the Academy.
The record breaking 14 medals that Bulgaria won at the last International Informatics Competition in Shumen were just one aspect of the good news for Telerik co—founder Boyko Iaramov. He contributed significantly to the ranking of 4th and 5th graders at the leading 8 positions: they all are trainees of the Telerik Kids Academy.
Ivan Parvanov, developer and Telerik Academy alumni: “I graduated from Telerik Academy two months ago. Within the first week I received 3 job offers with the help of the Academy. By the end of the second week, I had already signed a contract. The difference between the Academy and universities in general is that practice is core to all training programs at Telerik Academy.”
Telerik Academy’s new programming course aims to address the great need for talent in the tech sector. This is a 6-month course on Java – one of the most popular programming languages in the world. According Telerik Academy, 97% of their alumni work in the IT industry and 70% jumpstart their careers within just 2 months of graduation.
